How one establishes an astrological practice can vary a great deal from person to person. However, there are certain fundamental procedures that are divisible into three general categories: 1) Technology and Consultations, 2) Advertising and Promotion, and 3) Writing, Lecturing, and Teaching. Here are some tips in each of these areas.

Technology and Consultations

This spring Bob asked me if we could offer online membership and retreat registrations via the OPA website. This seemed like a reasonable request, but because of the way I originally developed the site I soon realized that the site would need to be redeveloped. I have natal Uranus at 27 Virgo exactly on my MC, so blending technology and astrology is a great fit for me. 

This month’s issue features five more of OPA’s bright stars. Let’s appreciate them for their willingness to share a bit of their lives. Like so many of OPA’s members, they reflect the diversity and expertise of our profession. Monday morning the workweek begins. It is eight o’clock. I am sitting in my favorite chair with a cup of tea close by and a client file in front of me. I am preparing for a consultation on career choices for a new client in California who will call later in the afternoon. All at once I realize, not for the first time, that I am incredibly happy to be doing the work I do. There is excitement about getting to know this person whom I will only see through the natal chart energies.

OPA keeps growing and coming into its own as an organization … in many ways our values and perception of the world seem more at home in the late 60’s than they do this period four decades later … but … watching Barack Obama’s acceptance speech I realized that many of the values we stand for are coming back into common currency.
